The Xerox AltaLink C8030 is the entry point of the AltaLink C8000 color series — a floor-standing A3 color laser multifunction printer for small offices and workgroups of 5-30 people that need in-house tabloid color. It prints and copies at 30 ppm color and B&W (letter/A4), with first-page-out as fast as 6.5 seconds color / 5.3 seconds B&W. Monthly duty cycle is 90,000 pages with a recommended average monthly volume of 5,000 to 12,000 — the smallest in the C8000 series. The 130-sheet single-pass Duplex Automatic Document Feeder scans color and B&W at 80 ppm simplex / 139 ipm duplex. Standard paper capacity is 1,140 sheets (two 520-sheet trays + 100-sheet bypass); the optional Four Tray Module bumps that to 2,180 sheets and the High Capacity Tandem Tray gets you to 3,140. With the optional High Capacity Feeder, max system capacity reaches 5,140 sheets. Print resolution is 1200 x 2400 dpi; copy is 600 x 600. The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.
