Is this the right printer for you?

Who the HP Envy Photo 7975 All-in-One Printer is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You print photos at home — the dual paper trays (main + photo) and SD card slot are the headline features.
  • You're a hobbyist printing 4x6 / 5x7 / 8x10 photos plus regular documents — 5-ink chassis (CMYK + photo black) gives better photo gradations than 4-ink Envy.
  • You scan multi-page documents semi-regularly — 35-sheet ADF handles contracts, IDs, intake forms.
  • You want Ethernet (not wireless-only) — this older 2018-era Envy Photo chassis still ships with 10/100 Ethernet.
  • You want third-party ink freedom — Envy Photo 7975 is non-HP+ and accepts third-party HP 64/64XL-compatible cartridges.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print up to 400 pages/month — 225-sheet input + 60-sheet photo tray covers it.
  • You're on 5 GHz Wi-Fi — this chassis is 2.4 GHz only (single-band 802.11 b/g/n). Wired Ethernet is the workaround.
  • You don't enroll in any subscription — Envy Photo 7975 predates HP+; just buy ink as you go.
  • You print 11x17 occasionally — wrong chassis; max sheet is letter/legal.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You print 500+ pages/month for a business — wrong tier; OfficeJet Pro line.
  • You need 5 GHz Wi-Fi — this chassis is 2.4 GHz only.
  • You need fax — there isn't one. Some Envy Photo 79xx variants had fax; the 7975 in this configuration does not.
  • You need duplex ADF (two-sided scan) — ADF is single-sided only.
  • You print mostly text and almost no photos — wrong chassis; cheaper Envy 6000 covers text-only home use.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The HP Envy Photo 7975 All-in-One Printer (B63K3A) is HP's older (2018-era) photo-tier home AIO — 5-ink chassis (CMYK + photo black, HP 64/64XL cartridges) with a dedicated photo tray, an SD card slot for direct photo printing, and 10/100 Ethernet that the newer Envy Inspire chassis dropped. It prints 15 ppm black / 10 ppm color (ISO), takes a 35-sheet single-sided ADF, supports auto duplex print, and uses a 2.65-inch color touchscreen on the bezel. The 225-sheet main tray plus 60-sheet photo tray means you don't swap paper to print a 4x6 photo. Wireless is single-band 2.4 GHz only (802.11 b/g/n) — if your house is 5 GHz, run it over Ethernet instead. The reason you buy this in 2026 over a current Envy Inspire: photo black ink + SD card slot + Ethernet + non-HP+ (third-party ink works). The thing buyers regret: assuming the 7975 is current — HP no longer ships it, ink is widely available but you're buying a 2018-design chassis. No fax in this configuration. Comes with HP 64 setup cartridges, power cord, setup poster, and reference guide.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.

What customers actually say

The 5-star consensus: "it just works"

Small sample size, high signal. The 2 verified reviewers picked this model to replace older inkjets or aging HP machines. Common threads in the feedback:

  • "Been using this for about a year now for printing photos and documents from home. The photo quality is really solid, colors come out vibrant, and the wireless setup was straightforward. Paper tray could hold more but it's fine for my needs."
  • "Decent all-in-one printer for a small office. Scanning and copying work well, though I wish the automatic document feeder held more pages. Print speed is acceptable but not blazing fast for high-volume days."
