Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C259iF is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You're a 5-15 person office printing 1,000 to 5,000 mixed pages a month.
  • You need TPM 2.0, WPA3, IEEE 802.1X for security policy.
  • You want SSD storage instead of HDD for faster boot.
  • You scan duplex batches up to 200 ipm into shared folders.
  • You'll match it to a bigger C5750i in the same UI family.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • It's fine if you only print 26 ppm letter — A4 sizes only.
  • It's fine if you fax 50 to 100 pages a month over Super G3.
  • It's fine if you only add a single optional 550-sheet cassette.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • Skip this if you need A3 or SRA3 output.
  • Skip this if your monthly page count crosses 8,000.
  • Skip this if you want a saddle-stitch finisher (the C477iFZ has one built in).
  • Skip this if you require 50 ppm color speed.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

Canon's imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C259iF is the 26 ppm A4 color MFP that replaces the C257iF in small offices that need TPM 2.0, WPA3, and a 256 GB SSD instead of a HDD. The engine still runs at 26 ppm color and mono at 1200 x 600 dpi with a 4-second startup, but it now carries 4 GB RAM, McAfee Embedded Control, IEEE 802.1X, and IPsec at the security baseline. The single-pass duplex feeder reads at 200 ipm at 300 dpi for fast PDF batches, paper holds 650 sheets standard and 2,300 with extra cassettes, and the 10.1 inch panel is the same as the rest of the iR-ADVANCE DX line. Connectivity: Gigabit Ethernet, optional Wi-Fi, USB 2.0/3.0, AirPrint, Mopria, Universal Print. Toner yields are around 60,000 pages mono and 19,000 each for color at standard coverage, and the optional cassette pedestal pushes input to 2,300 sheets total. The footprint is roughly 19.3 x 22.5 x 26 inches before any feeders, so it fits a credenza or low cabinet. Energy Star certified with under 1.5 kW peak draw. Honest regret: the duty cycle still tops out around 8,000 pages a month — push past that and you'll want a C357iF or C477iF.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.
