Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Canon imageRUNNER 7105 is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You run a high-volume in-plant print shop, mailroom, or central reprographics group pushing 200,000-700,000 pages a month.
  • You need 105-ppm A3 mono with the full finishing stack — saddle-stitch booklet maker, large-capacity stacker, hole-punch, GBC binder.
  • You already own one with a maintenance contract and a tech who knows the iR7000 platform.
  • You need a production B&W backup behind a digital color press.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print 100,000-200,000 pages a month — overbuilt for that, but cheap per click on a refurb.
  • You're running legacy MEAP scan workflows — still functional, no new connectors coming.
  • You need a 100+ ppm B&W workhorse for variable jobs — invoices, manuals, training packets.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You print under 50,000 pages a month — 617 lb production unit on 208V/12A is wrong for that volume.
  • You need cloud scan or modern mobile printing — not native; MEAP apps for this platform are aging out.
  • You don't have a dealer with iR7000 parts and toner pipeline — Canon EOL'd this generation.
  • You need color — mono only.
  • You're shopping new — replaced by the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 8786 / 8795 / 8705 line.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Canon imageRUNNER 7105 is a 105-ppm production-class mono A3 multifunction — the top speed of Canon's iR7000 chassis (7086/7095/7105). Built for high-volume in-plant print shops, central reprographics, and mailrooms running 200,000-700,000 pages a month, with a monthly duty cycle around 1,000,000 pages. Print resolution is 1200 x 1200 dpi, first copy out in 2.8 seconds. Standard paper capacity is 4,150 sheets (dual 550-sheet drawers plus dual 1,500-sheet decks), expandable with side decks and high-capacity feeders. The chassis weighs 617 lb, runs on 208V/12A, and stands 58 inches tall. Standard connectivity is 10/100 Ethernet and USB 2.0. Scan-to-email, scan-to-SMB/FTP, and I-fax run through the 8.4-inch SVGA touchscreen. Pairs with Canon's full finishing line: saddle-stitch booklet maker, large-capacity stacker, hole-punch, GBC binders. The thing buyers regret: this is the top of an EOL'd platform. Toner, drums, and fusers are still available through dealers, but not for much longer. If you already have one and the click rate is good, keep printing. If you're buying new, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 8786 / 8795 / 8705 is the right call.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.

Yes, the Canon imageRUNNER 7105 ships with a starter toner cartridge. The starter toner yields approximately 47,000 pages at 5% coverage. The replacement toner model is the Canon GPR-19 Black Toner (0387B003AA), which also yields 47,000 pages. When you lease through us with toner included, you never pay for toner separately.
The Canon imageRUNNER 7105 is a production-class monochrome printer designed for high-volume environments, with a speed of 105 ppm and a monthly duty cycle of up to 1,000,000 pages. In contrast, the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4825i is a workgroup multifunction printer with a speed of 25 ppm and a monthly duty cycle of 3,000 to 15,000 pages. The 7105 is built for large print shops and mailrooms, while the 4825i is suited for small to medium offices. The 4825i also includes modern features like a 10.1" color touchscreen, Gigabit Ethernet, and Wi-Fi, which the 7105 lacks. For small offices, the 4825i offers a more practical and cost-effective solution.
The Canon imageRUNNER 7105 is designed for high-volume environments, such as print shops and mailrooms, with a monthly duty cycle of up to 1,000,000 pages. Its speed of 105 ppm and large paper capacity make it overkill for most small businesses. Additionally, it is a monochrome printer, which may not meet the color printing needs of many small businesses.
No, the Canon imageRUNNER 7105 is a monochrome printer and can only print in black and white. If you need color printing, consider alternatives such as the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5560i, Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C3525i, or Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C7570i.
