Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Canon imagePRESS V1350 is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You're a commercial printer or trade shop running 75,000-1,200,000 click-charged color pages a month — Canon's stated AMPV range for the V1350.
  • You print on stocks up to 170 lb. Cover (450 gsm) — the broadest paper-weight envelope of any current toner production press.
  • You produce banner work up to 13x30 inches with automatic duplex (with the BDT VX 370-790 sheet feeder).
  • You need the top of the V-series at 135 ppm color and BW — fastest sheet-fed toner production speed Canon ships.
  • You can host three-phase 208V/30A power and a 2,348 lb. main engine plus the multi-module finisher train.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print 50,000-75,000 pages a month — the V1350 handles it but you're below Canon's recommended floor; the V1000 (100 ppm) or V900 (90 ppm) are better economics.
  • You're stepping up from an iGen, Versant, or PRISMA-driven competitor — color matching is competitive, expect 4-6 weeks of G7/spot profile rebuilds.
  • You want a Fiery DFE — the imagePRESS Server D3000 series bolts on; PRISMAsync is the standard.
  • You can dedicate a press operator to a single-press cell — the V1350 throughput rewards a focused operator more than a shared one.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You print under 50,000 pages a month — this is the top of the V-series at 135 ppm; the V1000, V900, V800, or V700 are right-sized.
  • You need Letter/A4 only — you're paying for a 13x19 SRA3+ production paper path you won't use.
  • You need a small footprint — main engine is 105.9 inches wide; configurations with full feeder/finisher train run past 30 feet.
  • You don't have a PRISMAsync-trained operator on staff — this requires certified press operation, not just print-room training.
  • You need an MFP — the V1350 is a single-function production press; scan/copy modules aren't part of the standard configuration.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Canon imagePRESS V1350 is the top of Canon's current V-series sheet-fed color production lineup — 135 ppm color and BW on Letter (76 ipm 11x17, 72 ipm 12x18, 69 ipm 13x19, 28 ipm 13x30), the fastest sheet-fed toner production speed Canon ships. Print resolution is 2400 x 2400 dpi. Paper-weight envelope is 16 lb. Bond to 170 lb. Cover (60-450 gsm) — the broadest of any current toner production press, including embossed and synthetic stocks. Standard paper capacity is 1,000 sheets at the engine; max is 10,000 sheets across the engine plus two POD Deck-E1 modules (4,000 sheets each). Long-sheet automatic duplex runs up to 13x30 inches with the BDT VX 370-790 sheet feeder. Recommended average monthly print volume is 75,000-1,200,000 pages; absolute duty-cycle ceiling is 2,400,000. Driven by PRISMAsync (standard). Engine main unit alone weighs 2,348 lb. and runs three-phase 208V/30A power, plus a single-phase 208V/20A circuit for the fusing station. Inline finishing includes the Multi Function Professional Puncher-D1 with eight die patterns and crease, Perfect Binder, Staple/Booklet Finisher, High-Capacity Stacker (6,000 sheets). The thing buyers regret: assuming a 135 ppm engine means proportionally more output. It doesn't — at this throughput, your bottleneck moves to make-ready, plate setup, and finisher feed rates. Budget for the operator workflow before you budget for the press.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.
