The Ricoh Aficio MP C4501 is a 45 ppm A3 color laser MFP — the 2009 successor to the MP C4500 and one rung below the MP C5501 in Ricoh's enterprise color line. It prints and copies 45 ppm in both black and color up to 12x18 (SRA3), runs auto duplex standard, and ships with a 100-sheet reversing ADF; the optional single-pass dual-scan ARDF doubles duplex scan throughput to ~220 ipm. Standard paper capacity is 1,200 sheets (dual 550-sheet drawers plus a 100-sheet bypass), expandable to 4,400 with the LCT. Monthly duty cycle is 200,000 pages, with a sane working range of 8,000-25,000 pages for departments of 30-75 people. The 8.5-inch WVGA color touchscreen and on-board PostScript 3 / PCL 6 / PDF Direct controller handle real scan-to-network and authentication workflows that the MP C4500 can't quite match. We still see these in active use at law firms, school districts, and municipal offices — engines routinely past 1M pages with regular PMs and aftermarket parts. Strengths: durable chassis, fast first-page-out (3.7s mono / 5.9s color), high-yield toner (25K mono / 18K color). The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.
