Is this the right printer for you?

Who the HP LaserJet Enterprise M507n Printer is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You need a basic, network-connected mono A4 print-only workhorse for an office of 3-15 people.
  • You print 800-3,000 pages a month — comfortably inside the 2,000-7,500 recommended range.
  • You don't need duplex (or you're fine flipping pages manually with driver support).
  • You want HP Wolf Security at a price point well below the M507dn.
  • You want the cheapest way into the HP Enterprise print-management toolset (Web JetAdmin, Security Manager).
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print 3,000-5,000 pages a month — fine, but consider whether the 89X high-yield toner economics justify the cost over a year.
  • You'll add manual duplex via the driver occasionally — works, just slower than auto.
  • You need wireless — Jetdirect 3100w around $200, or step up to the M507x for built-in Wi-Fi.
  • You don't have a Hardware Integration Pocket use case — the M507n omits the HIP.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You duplex-print regularly — get the M507dn (1PV87A). Auto duplex is worth the small price bump.
  • You ever need color — get the 6701dn or a color machine. Mono only here.
  • You print over 7,500 pages a month — get the 8501dn or 8601dn.
  • You need a touchscreen — the M507n has a 2.7-inch LCD with a keypad, not a touchscreen. Get the M507x for the 4.3-inch touchscreen.
  • You need to scan, copy, or fax — this is print-only. Get the M528 series.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The HP LaserJet Enterprise M507n (1PV86A) is the entry SKU in the M507 line — print-only A4 mono, 43 ppm, manual duplex (driver-assisted), 2.7-inch LCD with a 24-key pad. Best fit: a small office (3-15 people) printing 800-3,000 pages a month that wants HP Wolf Security and Web JetAdmin manageability without paying for auto-duplex or a touchscreen. Standard input is 650 sheets (100-sheet multipurpose plus 550-sheet tray 2), expandable to 2,300 with three optional 550-sheet trays. Connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet plus USB 2.0 standard; Wi-Fi/Bluetooth LE require the Jetdirect 3100w accessory. The M507n omits the Hardware Integration Pocket that the dn and x include — if you plan to add a card reader for badge release, you need the dn or x. HP Wolf Security: Sure Start BIOS self-heal, run-time intrusion detection, Connection Inspector — same security stack as the rest of the M507 family. Toner is the HP 89A/X/Y series (5K/10K/20K page yields). Buyer regret: realizing manual duplex is a real workflow drag and wishing you'd spent the extra $50-100 on the M507dn. If you duplex more than occasionally, skip the n and get the dn.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.
