Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C3826i is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You need SRA3 (320 x 450 mm) bleed sizes for marketing or design proofs.
  • You print 4,000 to 7,000 mixed pages a month in a 15-30 person office.
  • You scan duplex at 270 ipm into uniFLOW or SMB.
  • You need SSD encryption, SSD lock, and McAfee for security policy.
  • You print on stock up to 300 gsm via bypass.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • It's fine if 26 ppm is enough — you bought it for the chassis, not raw speed.
  • It's fine if you keep 1,200 sheets of standard input.
  • It's fine if you fax over Super G3 occasionally.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • Skip this if speed matters more than SRA3 — the C3725i is cheaper at the same engine class.
  • Skip this if you need 30 ppm or higher (look at the C3930i or C3935i).
  • Skip this if you need a saddle-stitch finisher.
  • Skip this if your monthly volume is above 8,000 pages.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C3826i is Canon's 26 ppm A3 color MFP in the 3800 series — same chassis as the C3935i but slowed down for 4,000 to 7,000 monthly pages. The big upgrade over the 3700 series is SRA3 support (320 x 450 mm), a 1.8 GHz dual-core with 3.5 GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD, a 4-second warm-up, and 270 ipm duplex scanning at 300 dpi. Print resolution is 1200 x 1200 dpi, standard input is 1,200 sheets across cassettes plus a 100-sheet bypass, and you can add cassettes to reach 2,300. Bypass takes 300 gsm media and envelopes; SSD encryption, SSD lock, McAfee, and uniFLOW Online Express handle security. Toner yields are about 71,500 mono and 30,000 each for color at standard coverage. Footprint is roughly 24.4 x 26.7 x 31.6 inches and the unit weighs around 244 lb on its cabinet. Power draw is around 1.5 kW peak with Energy Star Gold, and the standard 4-second warm-up is among the fastest in the iR-ADVANCE DX line. Honest regret: at 26 ppm A4 it's slower than the C3725i it succeeds in price terms — buy it for SRA3 and SSD, not raw speed.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.
