  • You want a Fiery DFE (G100 embedded or F200 external) for production color management on a sub-$60K-class engine.
  • You need 13x19.2-inch full-bleed booklets without stepping up to a C7011VPS.

  • You print 15,000-30,000 pages a month — the C700 is overbuilt but click rates are competitive.
  • You also need scan/copy — add the Duplex Color Image Reader-H1 (300-sheet single-pass DADF, 200/140 ipm BW/color duplex at 300 dpi).
  • You're integrating with Agfa Apogee, Kodak Prinergy, or Heidelberg Prinect — works via the F200 or PRISMAsync controller, not the entry-level Printer Kit.
  • You want PRISMAsync workflow planning — available, but it's a separate controller purchase, not the default DFE.

  • You print under 8,000 pages a month — get an imagePRESS Lite C165/C170 or imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C5800 instead. The C700 click economics break down at low volume.

It runs at 70 ipm on Letter, 35 ipm on 11x17, and 33 ipm on 13x19, at 2400 x 2400 dpi via 32-beam R-VCSEL laser. Recommended monthly volume is 30,000-80,000 pages. Standard paper capacity is 1,650 sheets across the engine cassettes; with the Multi-Drawer Paper Deck-B1 and POD Deck Lite-B1 you scale to 7,650 sheets. Stocks from 14 lb. Bond to 110 lb. Cover (52-300 gsm) run in automatic duplex, including envelopes (#10, Monarch, 6x9, 9x12, 10x13) with the Envelope Attachment Kit. Driven by the imagePRESS Server G100 (embedded Fiery), F200 (external Fiery FS150 Pro), the Printer Kit (entry PS), or PRISMAsync. Inline finishing covers stapling to 100 sheets, saddle-stitched booklets to 120 pages, perfect-bound books to 400 pages, and full-bleed 13x19 output. The thing buyers regret: skipping the F200 or PRISMAsync to save money, then discovering the Printer Kit can't drive Apogee/Prinergy/Prinect workflows. Spec the DFE for the work you actually do.
